Gertrude Gayton Obituary

Loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Friend

Gertrude S. Gayton, 83, of Wallingford passed away after a brief illness.  She was the widow of Arthur W. Gayton Sr.  Trudy was born in New Haven on March 31, 1938, a daughter of the late Harold G. Smith and Nora A. (Melanson) Smith.

Trudy loved music and was the most loyal fan of her son Art’s drumming.  She was an active and hardworking member of the Elks Lodge #1365 and also the VFW Post 591.  Family was the most important part of Trudy’s life, spending time with her daughter, son and grandson made her so happy.  As an animal lover, her cats Boogers and Daphne and grand dog Ella Skye were spoiled members of the family.  Trudy leaves a legacy of joy, kind heartedness and love of family and friends.  She will be so truly missed.

Trudy is survived by her son Arthur (Aileen) Gayton Jr of Wallingford, her daughter Dawn (David) Lochowski of Meriden and her grandson Zachary (Maria) Gayton of Kentucky.  She also leaves her sisters Shirley Butler(Robert), Lois Chapman and Joan Saccu and brother Robert Smith as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Art Sr., and brothers Ronald and Harry Smith.
