Frank J. Shappy, age 80, passed away peacefully on January 13th, 2026 while surrounded by the love of his family.
He was a lifelong hard worker for over 25 years for the state of CT as janitorial staff at Kaynor, as well as working over 25 years with Waterbury Amusement. Frank believed deeply in providing for those he loved and took great pride in everything he did. His strong work ethic, reliability, and determination were qualities he carried throughout his life and passed on by example. He was a jack of many trades and instilled those qualities into his daughter and grandchildren.
Frank had a profound love for animals and many will remember he always had multiple at all times. He enjoyed building bird houses and playing lotto. He loved sitting outside and watching the world around him. Most importantly he loved a good cup of hot coffee.
He touched many lives and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his daughter, Jennie Shappy and her husband Stephon; his grandson Joed Olivera, his wife Erika, and their two daughters Nova and Luna; his granddaughter Hypatia Areizaga and her daughter Lavender; as well as his ex-wife Iris Nieves, 3 brothers, 1 sister and numerous other family members.
Prospect Memorial/The Palmerie Family Funeral Home is honored to care for Frank and assist his family during this difficult time. Please leave your condolences, memories, and photos of Frank on his Tribute Wall on this page.
