Beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather
Francis J. Prenez Jr., 87, of Prospect passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family August 27, 2024 at Autumn Lake Health Center. He was the loving husband of Kathleen (Moriarty) Prenez. Frank was born April 11, 1937 in Waterbury, a son of the late Francis J. Prenez Sr. and Anna (Lazarius) Prenez.
Frank proudly served his country in the United States Army. After his service and upon returning to the US from Germany, he established his welding business, Waterbury Welding. Frank had a passion for classic cars. He won several awards for his craftsmanship in restoring the classics back to their original condition. Frank enjoyed many years of membership at the Watertown Country Club perfecting his great golf skills. If you knew Frank, you knew the Yankees were his one and only favorite team.
More than anything, Frank was a family man. He and Kathleen enjoyed many happy years together raising their daughters. Cruises, family gatherings and anytime together brought so much joy. His life was complete with the blessings of becoming a grandfather. He was a wonderful, caring father, doting Pop and beloved husband.
Left to cherish his love and memory beside his wife Kathleen are his daughters Karen Reckmeyer (Herb) of West Hartford, Carolyn Skidmore (Scott) of Terryville, Andrea Prenez of Prospect and Dana Prenez of Granby. He also leaves his cherished grandchildren Shannon Skidmore, Meaghan Alarcon (Dave), Kyle Skidmore, Christopher Reckmeyer (Michelle), Catherine Reckmeyer (Nick), Molly Sweet and Morgan Sweet and his great grandson Sean Alarcon. Frank will be missed by his brother Richard Prenez of Plainville, and sisters: Barbara Zigatdo of Waterbury, Marilyn Muzzicato of Thomaston and Joanne Prenez (Sharon) of Granby as well as nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, August 30, 2024 at 11:30am at St. Anthony’s Church, 4 Union City Road, Prospect. All those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the church. Military Honors will be accorded following mass. Burial will be private.
