Frances N. Lamontagne, 90, of Prospect passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at Waterbury Hospital. She was the widow of Edward J. Lamontagne, Jr. Frances was born on January 21, 1932 in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late Joseph and Katherine Neagle and step-daughter of Verton Minor.
As a devoted member of St. Anthony’s Church, she served many roles. Fran was the first president of the St. Anthony’s Parish Council, an active member of both the Choir and Ladies’ Guild and a founding member of The Prospectors. She developed close friendships with many of the parish clergy. Fran was an avid traveler, skilled artist and enjoyed performing in local community choir and theater productions.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, David LaMontagne and wife Michele, Stephen LaMontagne, John LaMontagne and wife Cheryl, Thomas LaMontagne and wife Tracy, Jeanne Dempsey and husband Mark, James LaMontagne and Ned Lamontagne and wife Dina, all of whom were her “favorite”. Fran also leaves behind grandchildren Jeffrey Lamontagne, Jacqueline Lamontagne and husband Mike Stuerke, Daniel LaMontagne and wife Kate, Bernadette LaMontagne, Theresa LaMontagne and Matthew LaMontagne and wife Dana, Michael Dempsey and Claire LaMontagne as well as great-grandchildren Madeleine Kulas, Genevieve Kulas and Nora LaMontagne. She is survived by her sister-in-law Marie Kennedy, brother-in-law Francis Filippone and many nieces and nephews. Fran was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Edward, her brother John Neagle and sisters Anne Rockwell, Virginia Platt and Patricia Hamel.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, January 4th 4:00-7:00 PM at Prospect Memorial/ The Palmerie Family Funeral Home, 122 Waterbury Road, Prospect. Funeral services will be Thursday, January 5th at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony’s Church, 4 Union City Rd, Prospect, with interment to immediately follow at Prospect Cemetery.
