Evelyn Gorman Wrinn, 89, of Meriden, formerly of Hamden for many years, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at the Curtis Home after a long illness. Born on November 22, 1936, in New Haven, she was the daughter of the late Margaret and William Gorman.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Francis Wrinn, as well as several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her son, Tim Dumond and his friend, Joe Nuzzo, of Cheshire; her daughter, Donna (Dumond) Stapleton and her husband, Mike, of New Hampshire; and her grandson, Cory Dumond, and his wife, Samantha.
Evelyn worked a variety of jobs throughout her life, including positions at the former SNET and as an administrative assistant for the New Haven Railroad. She concluded her career at Yale University, where she worked in the Human Resources Department.
A devoted animal lover, Evelyn was very active for many years with The Greater New Haven Cat Project. She generously volunteered her time caring for cats and assisting with fundraising efforts, a cause that was especially close to her heart.
Visitation will take place on Monday, January 12 from 10 - 11 a.m. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery in West Haven. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Greater New Haven Cat Project, 1874 Middletown Avenue, Northford, CT 06472.
