Edna Hemstock Obituary

Edna F. McFarlin Shea Hemstock died peacefully while enfolded in the love of her family on September 5, 2025 at Ingraham Manor after a long illness. Edna was the widow of Robert Hemstock Sr. Born April 6, 1942 in Waterbury, Edna was the only daughter of the late Francis McFarlin and Jenny (Zigadto) McFarlin.

Edna was the wonderful combination of career woman and gentle loving mother and homemaker all rolled into one. She managed all with finesse and flair. Her cooking was amazing signature dishes with perfection. And her leftovers were as good or even better than the original meal. She put love into each bite. Edna was very talented. She enjoyed sketching, painting and ceramics. Her artwork was treasured gifts to all recipients.

Edna was a proud breast cancer survivor. She battled with strength and determination. Her scars were her badge of courage and triumph. She offered her support to all those who traveled the same difficult journey, providing helpful tidbits, strength of kinship and prayers of love and support. Throughout her life, her faith brought her comfort. She credited the love and support of her family and her unwavering faith in God for carrying through the difficult cancer journey. She treasured every minute with family. Their love and time together were her joy.

Left to cherish Edna’s love and memory are her son James Shea of Prospect, her step daughter Karen Hemstock of Mass, stepsons Robert T Hemstock Jr and wife Molly of Kansas and Charles Hemstock and his wife Whitney of Wallingford. She also leaves her cherished grandchildren: Collin and Bryan Shea of Prospect, Amber Cyr and husband Adam of Watertown, LeeAnne Hemstock of Wallingford and Camryn Mirra and husband Steven of Wallingford as well as CJ and Jeffrey Hemstock of Kansas. Edna also leaves to cherish her memory her companion Terry Parsons of Branford. Preceding her in death are her parents and her brother Dennis McFarlin.

Friends and family are invited to share time and memories with Edna’s family on Thursday, September 11, 2025 from 5 pm to 7pm at Prospect Memorial/ The Palmerie Family Funeral Home, 122 Waterbury Rd., Prospect. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025 at 10 am at the funeral home with burial to immediately follow at Calvary Cemetery.
