Dorothy V. Dillon, 95, formerly of Prospect, passed away peacefully at Masonicare on Saturday, November 26, 2022. She now joins her husband Harry Eugene Dillon Sr. in heaven after 5 years apart. Born on September 6, 1927 in Oakville, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Harry S. Johnson and Freida E. Schumacher.
Dorothy and her husband enjoyed riding near and far on their Goldwing Motorcycle. They were members of the Retreads Motorcycle Club for over 30 years. She also was quite a fisherman; from baiting the hook to reeling in her catch, she enjoyed the challenge and victory of catching the first fish. The Dillon family vacationed to Raymond, Maine every year which was Dorothy’s favorite place. Family was everything to Dorothy; how blessed she felt watching her family grow with the addition of grandchildren to great grandchildren to great-great grandchildren. At the time of her passing Mrs. Dillon was the proud matriarch of five generations. She loved animals and was a faithful contributor to the ASPCA.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her love and memory her daughter Patricia Dillon Hruska and her husband Phillip of Florida, and her sons Harry E. Dillon Jr and his wife Janet also of Florida, and Scott A. Dillon and his wife Marianne of Vermont, as well as 6 grandchildren: Harry Dillon III and wife Angela of Prospect, Kristen Dillon of Torrington, Phillip Caponera and wife Terry of Florida, Nicole Caponera and fiance Giovanni of Meriden, Scott M. Dillon of Vermont, and Sarah New and husband Jason of Vermont. At the time of her passing Dorothy had 15 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, five generations in all. She also leaves her sister Betty Jerome of California, and many nieces and nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, Dorothy was predeceased by her grandsons Kevin Dillon and Zaiden Caponera.
