Donald F. Odoardo, 88, of Prospect, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. He was the devoted husband of Joan (McHale) Odoardo, with whom he shared 61 blessed years of marriage. Don was born on September 12, 1937, in Waterbury, the son of the late Croce and Maria(Rosa) Odoardo. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut and went on to a distinguished career as a research analyst for the State of Connecticut, serving in the Department of Mental Health. He was highly respected for his intellect, integrity, and dedication to public service.
Don was an avid reader whose home was filled with countless volumes spanning a wide range of genres. A true intellectual, he possessed a deep curiosity about the world. Don and Joan met in college, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love, respect, and shared interests. The couple enjoyed twenty plus years wintering along the beautiful and warm coast of southern Florida. Together, they traveled extensively, immersing themselves in the history, culture, and unique qualities of each destination. Among their international travels, a favorite was their 50th anniversary trip to beautiful Australia and New Zealand.
In addition to his loving wife Joan, Don leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Bethaney Edwards and Andrea Clementi, and his treasured granddaughter, Oona Clementi of Fayetteville, North Carolina. He was predeceased by his beloved granddaughter, Allegra Clementi, by his brother, John Odoardo, and his sister, Jean Sottosanto. Don surely will be missed by the two family pets, Milocat and especially Zoiecat.
