Donald E. Bragg, 88, of Prospect, died peacefully while surrounded by the love of his family November 5th, 2023 at Waterbury Hospital. Don was born February 14, 1935 in Waterbury. He was the son of the late Emil and Myrtle (Handy) Bragg and had been a Prospect resident for the past 61 years. Don attended local schools in Waterbury. He was a proud Marine and a veteran of the Korean War. He was employed by SNET from 1947 until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of the Prospect Police Department serving part-time from 1968 until 1987, at which time he became full-time until his retirement in 1999.
Don was the founder and president of the Central Connecticut Scuba Divers Association and taught scuba diving at the Naugatuck YMCA for many years. He was a member of the Naugatuck Lodge BPOE No. 967 and was a member of the American Legion Post No. 0194. He was Chairman of the Highway Safety Committee in Prospect.
Don was known for his restoration and refurbishing of antique cars. He was a proud member of the CT Thunderbird Club.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Barbara A. (Martin) Bragg and two daughters, Dawn (Bragg) Krisavage (Paul) of Prospect, and Elizabeth Crews of Port St. Lucie, FL. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Adam Krisavage (Nicole), Carly Walsh (Michael), Newman Crews and Ryan Crews, as well as great grandchildren, Emma and Meghan Krisavage. He is also survived by his sister Virginia Woodin of Bristol and brother John Bragg of Oakville.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, November 13, 2023 from 5pm to 7pm at Prospect Memorial/ The Palmerie Family Funeral Home 122 Waterbury Rd., Prospect. A Funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at 11 am. Burial with Military Honors will immediately follow at CT Veterans Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown.
