Donald Andrews

Donald Andrews,74, of Waterbury passed away peacefully on November 17, 2023 at St. Mary’s Hospital.  He was the beloved son of Margie (Goodwin) Andrews and the late Major Andrews and father of Faith Andrews.  Born October 22, 1949 in Greenwood SC, he was the eldest of 13 children.  The family reunions were quite the event.  Lively conversations, delicious food and family love abounds when the Andrews family gathers together.

Donald attended Crosby High School of Waterbury and later went on to work at Southbury Training School. He enjoyed cooking, playing cards and loved music. He would often break out into song, singing around the house, or even when his daughter beat him playing Rummy.

Old cowboy westerns, the Yankees, the Knicks, classic cars and tasty sweets were a few of Don’s favorites.  Shooting hoops with his nieces and nephews brought lots of laughs.  But more than anything “Pop Pop” treasured time with his grandchildren.  Family was everything for this humble man.  

Left to cherish Don’s love and memory are his daughter Faith Andrews and her husband Steve Smead of Woodbury, his mother Margie, and grandchildren Owen and Olivia.  He also leaves his brothers Nathaniel(Sarah) and Callis( Jacqueline) all of Waterbury and his sisters: Gloria(Tommie) Hardy of GA., Aretha(William) Davis of Waterbury, Janice(Scott) Tallman of NC., Margaret (Shearney) McKeller of NC., Raquel(Jarrod) Charles of Meriden, Robin Dale Butler of Waterbury and Joyce Andrews of Waterbury and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Don is predeceased by his father Major, brother Ralph and sisters Maxine and Madelon.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 1pm to 3pm at Prospect Memorial/The Palmerie Family Funeral Home, 122 Waterbury Rd., Prospect.  Burial will be at the convenience of the family.  Prospect Memorial is honored to be assisting the Andrews family and invite you to share your memories and condolences at www.prospectmemorial.com
