Derrick R. Pitt

Derrick R. Pitt, 46, of Middletown, passed away on June 14, 2024. He was born July 18, 1977 to Trevor A. Pitt and Lori A. Mercer. He was predeceased by his siblings Omar Pitt, Horatio Pitt, and Sean Wilson.

Derrick was studying to be a chef, as he loved to cook. Though he loved to cook, his passion was music. He was a longtime rapper going by the name “Kat Da Artist” and performed with many local and popular artists. Above all, he loved his family and enjoyed taking trips to Florida to visit them.

Derrick is survived by his children: Jayvon Mason, Derrick Vazquez, Dytazia Vazquez, and Imajé Pitt, his 6 grandkids, his parents: Trevor A. Pitt and Lori A. Mercer, his siblings: Beijing Cook, Devin Wilson, Duane Mercer, Mary Ferrell, Sarah Wilson, and Lori Wilson, Claudia Morrison, Trevor “Bobby” Pitt, Shantel Pitt, Treasure Pitt, Ernest Pitt, Erika Pitt, Trevor A. Pitt, his aunt Danyne Mercer, his uncle Eugene Mercer, and his longtime friend Tai Walton.
