Beloved Mother and Friend

It is with profound sadness and heartache that the Nabozny family announces the passing of their dear mother Debra Nabozny, who passed unexpectedly at her home on Monday, September 2, 2024.

Debra was the widow of the late Stanley Nabozny Sr. Born February 11, 1960, in Waterbury, Debbie was the daughter of the late William Plasky and Dorothy (Ouwelant) Hitchcock.

She attained her Associate’s Degree from the then Mattatuck Community College and began a lifelong career advocating for children and families.

Debbie and her husband were blessed with four children of their own and her life revolved around them. Raising her large family brought her the ultimate joy. Her children were her life. Her grandchildren brought out the magic in her. The depth she loved her kids and grandkids was immeasurable and the memories she created with them were magical. She gave her family years of memories – from countless vacations to Disneyworld and road trips to the Florida Keys, to cottages and camping at every beach along the East Coast. She was full of laughter, she radiated kindness and she loved deeply.

She will be so terribly missed by her children: Suzy (Billy Griffin) of Oxford, Stacey (Justin Randall) of Becket, MA , Sandee (William Philbrick) of Ellington , and Stanley Jr. of Torrington, as well as her cherished grandchildren Cameron, Loralei, Fatima and Cayleigh, her honorary grandchildren Nayel and Enaya, treasured friends, and the most special family friend, our Jeanie Caligan.

A mother’s love is the most powerful magic, and although Debra died way too young, her children and grandchildren will always know the beauty of her love in their hearts. Shine bright from the heavens Mom and always know how much you are loved and missed.

Services will take place at a later time. Prospect Memorial/Palmerie Family Funeral Home is honored to assist the Nabozny family with Debbie’s services and to care for them during their grief journey.
