Davis Caplan Obituary

Davis Caplan, 73, of Waterbury, passed away March 1, 2024, after an illness at Waterbury Hospital. He was born in Boston, Mass and was the son of the late Harry Caplan and Irene Levine Caplan.

Davis studied at Wentworth Institute of Technology with a BS in Architecture, Activities and societies: Tau Alpha Pi, national honor society and then went on to earn a BA in Architecture from Boston Architectural College. He was a member of AIA (American Institute of Architects). He also volunteered as Secretary of Board of Directors for “Variety – the children’s Charity NSW.

Davis received praise from colleagues such as:
“Davis Caplin: an extraordinarily gifted professional with heart, mind and plenty of soul and compassion. Some of Boston Housing Authority's biggest undertakings were expertly handled by him. It was a privilege and a pleasure to work alongside him”.  “He is personable, attentive and responsive and has directly contributed to the success of many of our projects”.

Davis enjoyed tending his garden, puttering on various projects and interests, playing with his beloved and loyal dog Sabrina and spending time with his wife and her family.

In addition to his wife Angela Sullo Caplan of 9 years, Davis is survived by his sister Cynthia Gaynor Fleishman, Angela’s children: Vincent Sullo, wife Danielle Sullo and their son Leonardo Sullo: Angela Sullo’s, grandchildren Vinny and Valentina Sullo; Angela’s son Joseph Sullo and his son Dylan Sullo.
