David Soletsky Obituary

David Soletsky, of Roxbury, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025, at Hartford Hospital, just two days before his 52nd birthday. He was surrounded by his loving wife, Laurie Soletsky, and their three daughters, Sierra, Skylar, and Zoe Soletsky.

David was born on August 22, 1973, and grew up in Brookfield, Connecticut. He was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Peggy Soletsky, and by the family’s friendly German Shepherd, Alice.

David attended the University of Hartford where he earned his degree in music. He was a gifted pianist with a natural talent that stood out to everyone who heard him play. He especially loved jazz and wrote his own music. Throughout his life he played in many bands and performed in countless shows. His music was a true part of who he was. His family and friends will always remember his talent as something rare and unforgettable.

David and Laurie bought land in Roxbury, Connecticut, and built their home from the ground up. It was in that home that they raised their three daughters, creating a warm and loving place filled with memories that will last a lifetime.

More than anything, David loved his family. He was a gentle soul, a kind man, and a devoted husband and father. He was a true “girl dad” and took great joy in being part of his daughters’ lives. He had long hair, and when he fell asleep, his daughters would often put butterfly clips in it, sharing moments of laughter and love. He read bedtime stories, taught his daughters how to ride their bikes, cuddled with them during movies, told silly dad jokes, took them to the park, and took them out for ice cream and mini golf. His daughters will always remember being called “Daddy’s little girls,” and they will carry his love with them forever.

David was a unique and rare man. His soul was gentle and full of kindness. He struggled with mental health toward the end of his life and was taken from this world far too soon. But he will always be remembered for the person he truly was. He was the definition of a kind man, and the love he gave will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He is survived by his wife Laurie, his daughters Sierra, Skylar, and Zoe, his sister Stephanie Mackenzie, and the family’s loyal dog Jezzy.

He was, and always will be, our piano man.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
