David M. McClay

David McClay, 76, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2026 surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on July 28, 1949, in Austin, Texas, David spent much of his childhood and early adulthood in Phoenix, Arizona. In the late 1980s, he made Connecticut his home, where he built a life filled with family, friendships, church, and the simple joys that mattered most to him.

David was a devoted husband to his wife, Harriet, and a loving father to his daughters, Wendi and Marissa. He was a proud Popo to Phoenix and Phaylynne, who brought him immeasurable joy. He is also survived by his brothers, Wayne (Sandy)  and Robert (Renee), along with his nieces and nephews, many extended family members, friends, and brothers in Christ who will miss him dearly.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, David rarely missed an opportunity to watch a game, cheer for his favorite teams, or talk sports with family and friends. Whether at a stadium, gathered around a television, sharing stories, or simply enjoying time together, he found happiness in life’s everyday moments.

David will be remembered for his warmth, his love for his family, and the steady presence he brought to those around him. His greatest pride was the family he helped create and the memories he shared with them throughout his life.

Friends and  family are invited to visit with David’s family on Friday, July 10, 2026 from 5 pm to 7 pm at Prospect Memorial/ The Palmerie Family Funeral Home, 122 Waterbury Rd., Prospect.  Funeral services for Mr. McClay will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at 11 am at Covenant Church, 64 Grove St., Thomaston.  All those planning to attend funeral services are asked to meet directly at the church.
