David Lucia Obituary

Beloved Son, Brother, Uncle and Friend

David Paul Lucia “Dave” of Waterbury, formerly of Prospect passed away peacefully in the presence of his loving family on Saturday, October 7, 2023.  Born August 14, 1958, Dave was the beloved son of Laura (Alves) Lucia and the late Rocco D. Lucia.  Dave spent his short 65 years being the best son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend and neighbor he could be.  He brought joy and laughter wherever he went.  As a hardworking carpenter, Dave was integral to hundreds of building projects throughout Prospect, Naugatuck, Middlebury, Woodbury, Bethany, Beacon Falls, Wolcott, Old Saybrook and Vermont.

Left to hold dear Dave’s love and memory are his mother Laura Lucia, brothers Rocco, James, and Robert and his devoted wife Mare, and sisters Beth Goulet (Craig), and Susan Lucia along with her true-blue husband Anthony Tomanio.  He also leaves his cherished nephews Daniel and Anthony Lucia and niece Jacalyn Goulet with whom he loved and enjoyed beyond words. Additionally, both Robert Skrip and Mark Guastaferri, his close and loyal friends, were like two more brothers to him. David is well loved by several cousins, particularly Judy and Bruce Padula, and friends far and wide.

Dave was an easy going, kind and funny guy that always left you laughing.  No matter how busy, he made himself available to help friends and family and was the “Go-to” guy if you needed something built or fixed.  He most surely succeeded in his mission to make homes better and make life easier for everyone in his life.  He was a devoted family man and was well loved by his big energetic, close-knit family.

His beautiful car, a ‘69 Pontiac Firebird (Fire Chicken), was one of his joys and at times was showcased at the Prospect Car Show.  He also enjoyed traveling to Vermont and Rhode Island, and spending time with friends and family no matter where he was. He leaves his love and light with each of his family members, friends, cousins, neighbors, and all who were blessed to know him; never saying “good-bye” but instead “Go easy”. The lessons of The Andy Griffith Show, Batman, Bonanza, Get Smart and F-Troop helped to magnify David’s moral compass.

The family would like to extend great gratitude to the staff and doctors of the Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center. The entire nursing staff cared for David above and beyond the call of duty.

Memorial donations to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, https://www.stjude.org/ or to 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105, in honor of David would be greatly appreciated.
