David Barry, III Obituary

David Barry was born on March 5, 1960 at Norwalk Hospital, the only child of David P. Barry, Jr. and Doris Oakley Barry. His childhood home was located on Lee Allen Lane in Wilton CT. The family enjoyed many camping vacations over the years with the CT Starcraft Camping Club. He attended Our Lady of Fatima elementary school and graduated from Wilton High School in 1979. He continued his education at Porter & Chester Institute as a diesel mechanic and was hired by the Wilton Department of Public Works after graduation. 

Upon retirement, he pursued his passions of go karting and stock car racing.  He won many races and championships with the Wilton and Norwalk Karting Club as well as the World Karting Association. He served on the pit crew for multiple NASCAR teams with close friends, including Randy Higginson. He regularly attended events at Stafford Motor Speedway in Stafford Springs, CT.  He was a member of the Samuel Comstock Fife and Drum Corps in Wilton and the General Israel Fife and Drum Corps in Redding.   

David Barry passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury on May 10, 2024 at the age of 64 due to multiple causes. His cremains will be interred at St. John Cemetery, 25 Camp Avenue in Darien CT in the Barry family plot. The interment date will be determined by his surviving cousins which include John Hickson of New Smyrna Beach FL, Cindy Hickson Fleming of Charlotte NC, Barbara Cline of Holly Springs NC and Francis Dance of Lyme CT. He was pre-deceased by his father in 1983 and his mother in 2007.
