Cynthia Cipriano Obituary

Cynthia D. (Pelkey) Cipriano, 87, of Prospect entered into heavenly rest on Saturday May 28, 2022 while surrounded by the love of her family.  She was the beloved wife of Richard J. Cipriano Sr. for 65 years.  Cynde was born February 17, 1935 in East Millinocket, Maine, one of five children of the late Clinton and Gertrude (Legassay) Pelkey.  As a child Cynde and her family moved to Prospect, CT.

Cynde was a graduate of Wilby High School.  After graduation she started her working career as a legal secretary for Lewis, Hart, Upson and Secor.  Later on she went to work security for Bradlees, then as a home health aide, and for a time was the owner of Prospect Plastercraft before finally becoming an independent distributor of prepackaged balloons and a fine line of greeting cards.

She married the love of her life, Richard, in 1956 in St. Anthony’s Church in Prospect.  She and Rich raised their five children Sandra, Richard Jr., Licia, Lara and Pamela.  In the 1970’s Cynde was diagnosed with an addiction to alcohol.  She joined AA and underwent counseling for a few years.  As a testament to her resolve, she never had another drink for the rest of her life.

In the early 1980’s, Cynde was visited by the love of God and was totally transformed spiritually at Living Faith Christian Church.  Thereafter she and her born again husband traveled the world in the mission field of helping to plant new churches, witnessing to many and sharing the love of Jesus throughout the world.

Cynde was a fantastic cook and taught her children and grandchildren many great meals.  If pressed to choose a favorite, her family would pick her “melt in your mouth blueberry cake” and her spaghetti sauce.  Cynde leaves a strong legacy of service to her Lord and Savior, love of all humanity, and most importantly her devotion to her husband and family.  She had a keen sense of discernment, a gentle and kind spirit which changed many lives during her Christian walk.

Left to cherish her love and memory are her husband Richard, children: Richard Jr   of Florida, Lara Panasci of Prospect, Pamela Mourges of Torrington

12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  She also leaves her brothers Edward, William and Claude. She was predeceased by her daughters Sandra and Licia and her siblings Clinton Jr., and Lilla.
