Christopher Meehan

Christopher Meehan, 42, of Torrington entered into the loving embrace of the Lord on December 16, 2023 after a brave and heroic battle with Multiple Sclerosis.  Chris was born in Waterbury on October 30, 1981, a cherished son of David Mancini of Thomaston and Colleen Meehan of Torrington.  Although his life was much too short, Chris brought joy to all and demonstrated true appreciation for each day.

Chris was a graduate of Wilby High School.  Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at the very young age of 18, he soldiered through his disability to graduate with his class.  He enjoyed music of varied genres and taught himself to play guitar.  Although he wasn’t physically able to get his driver’s license, he worked with his uncle piece by piece to build his Grand Am.  Colleen made sure he had plenty of time sitting in the driver’s seat of his first car.  He also loved the companionship of his beagle Sadie and dachshund Frankie, rollerblading, and more than anything, time with his family and friends. 

Among the many blessings of his life are his friendships with his cousin TJ Russo, who currently lives in China, and his friend Chris Purdy of Watertown.  They have been close since birth and most decidedly they made this past summer a very happy one for Chris.  Chris had the “A Team” of compassionate, loving caregivers: his Mom, brothers David Mancini Jr of Watertown and Michael Mancini of Thomaston, close friend and caregiver Debbie Marquis and his Dad. Being wheelchair bound since the age of 18, this wonderful team of family and friends very capably cared for Chris enabling him to remain at home his entire life.

Left to cherish his memory and love besides his mother Colleen, father David and brothers David Jr and Michael are his grandmother Ilde Mancini and many aunts and uncles and lots of cousins.  Christopher is predeceased by his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Terrence Dominy and grandfather Lugo Mancini.
