Cheryl Brooks Obituary

Cheryl Anne (Cher)Brooks, 63, of Prospect, passed away peacefully in the loving presence of her family on Sunday May 2, 2021 at Griffin Hospital.  She was a long-time member of the Prospect Volunteer Fire Department as an MRT where she received two “LifeSave” awards.

Cher was born November 23, 1957 in Clinton Mass, a daughter of Alice (Matthews) Towne and the late Howard F. Towne Sr. 

Cher was an outgoing, kind hearted, fun loving woman who would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it.  She loved country music, the beach, singing Karaoke,Cher  “If I Could Turn Back Time” and having a beer with her “Slante’s family” or “Chute Gates Steakhouse family.” Cher was a member of the VFW Post 8075 Ladies Auxiliary and also the Prospect Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

If you knew Cher, you knew she loved her sports cars, her most recent, the bright yellow Mustang.  Cher will be terribly missed by her family and many friends.

Cher leaves her loving son, Allen Brooks JR and his fiancée, Stephanie Barker of Wolcott, and her loving daughter Kimberly Brooks and husband Robert Herbon of Torrington, and her four grandchildren Zachary, Brandan, Cheyanne and Robert.  She also leaves her mother Alice Towne of Clinton, brothers Bill of Canaan, Donald of Naugatuck, Kevin of Bethany, David of Derby and a sister Juanita of Thomaston.

She was preceded in death by her father Howard Sr,  and her brothers: “Chuck” Howard Towne Jr , Dale, Darrell and Kenneth Towne.
