Carol Morrell Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we share Carol Lee Morrell has passed away on January 11, 2025 in the loving presence of her nephew Terry and while embraced in the love of her family.

Carol was born February 23, 1950 to Elmer Morrell and Margaret (Fitzsimmons) Morrell. She is survived by her sister Jocelyn Whipple, longtime partner Donald Anderson, stepdaughter Della Carroll Anderson, and stepson Jared Carroll as well as several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her sisters: Thelma, Dorothy Jean, Betty, Jeanette, and her brothers, Hughie, Bill, Ronald, Darrell and Donald.

Carol graduated from Governor Baxter School for the Deaf (GBSD) in 1969. After graduating she worked as a data entry clerk.  She then went on to work for several years for the Post office in Mass. and later in Conn until she retired after 35 years.

Carol loved sports, playing games, traveling, camping and bowling. She has won several bowling tournaments over the years. Carol was an avid sports fan and faithful follower of her favorite teams: the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, Boston Celtics and both the Women and Men UCONN Huskies basketball teams.   She also enjoyed playing basketball during her high school years at GBSD. Carol was quite competitive and loved playing the card games uno, uno attack and phase 10 with Terry or Della. She loved visiting Maine to see family and friends and to eat her favorite Maine Lobster.  She also loved dogs.

Carol was so truly loved by her family and each one has special memories of time spent together.  For Della, cruising to Mexico, for Jared camping in Oxbow Maine where they enjoyed fishing and watching wildlife, particularly a moose. Terry and Carol were more like brother and sister than aunt and nephew.  Terry has many fond memories of visits at GBSD, camping and visiting northern Maine. Donald treasures going on several cruises together.  He cherishes Carol’s love and memory and the time they had together.  Carol’s parting wish is for her family and friends to know she loved them with all her heart.  Most assuredly her love and memory will be cherished always.
