Carol Critelli Obituary

Beloved Wife, Mother, and Gie

Carol Ann Critelli, 87, of Wolcott passed away peacefully while enfolded in the love of her family on Monday, August 5, 2024 at Ingraham Manor.  She was the beloved wife of Joseph C. Critelli for 67 years. Carol was born in Bristol, Connecticut on February 14, 1937, a daughter of the late Raymond and Mary (Melasky) Fregeau.

Carol devoted her life to caring for others.  As a skilled and compassionate LPN, Carol continued working well into her 70’s.  Throughout her career, Carol worked at several places including Children’s Village Daycare in Wolcott and her final working years at Cheshire Physical Therapy.

Carol’s vibrant personality was a blend of wit and sass that kept those around her constantly entertained and uplifted. She had a remarkable knack for infusing her signature wit into any situation, and her sharp, playful sense of humor was a source of joy for all who knew her. A passionate reader, she loved immersing herself in a good book and often shared her latest literary finds with friends and family. As an avid sports fan, Carol found great joy in watching the UConn Women’s Basketball team and the Boston Red Sox with her husband Joe. Even as she faced health challenges, Carol never let go of her signature style—her perfectly manicured nails were a testament to her enduring spirit and attention to detail. Her ability to maintain such grace and elegance, even in her final days, is a testament to her unyielding zest for life and her love of beauty, books, and laughter. Carol will be missed by her many cherished friends whom she would spend time with at the Wolcott Senior Center.

Left to honor her memory, cherish her love, and mourn her passing, beside her husband Joe, are her children: Debra and husband Anthony “Perry” Perugini of Summerville, South Carolina, Joseph Critelli Jr and wife Nancy of Wolcott, and Mark Critelli and wife Deborah of Bristol.  Lovingly called “Gie”, Carol cherished her grandchildren: Andrea, Janessa, Mark, Courtney, Michael, Caroline, Kayleigh, Brianna, and Hannah as well as her 16 great grandchildren.  Carol will also be mourned by her sister Marylou Larsen.  Preceding her in death is her brother, Mark “Buzzy” Fregeau. Her family was the center of her being.
