It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of proud father Billy David Torres, 40, of Waterbury, on Sunday, May 10, 2026.
Despite ongoing health challenges, Billy faced them with courage and resilience, ultimately finding peace surrounded by his loving family. His smile and laughter will be forever missed.
Billy was born October 10, 1985, in Waterbury. He is a graduate of Crosby High School. He worked as a maintainer for the City of Waterbury for a decade, in the departments of blight and education. After earning his CDL, he worked as a highway maintainer for the State Dept of Transportation, though his career was cut short after a diagnosis of Retinitis Pigmentosa, a genetic degenerative eye disorder.
He was a big fan of the Boston Celtics and horror shows including The Walking Dead, Squid Games, and Stranger Things. He always looked forward to playing a game of Jumanji with his daughters and hanging with pet hamsters Bisquit, Teddy, Bella, and his favorite Peanut.
He will be immensely missed by his two beautiful daughters, Jaslynn, 15, of Waterbury, and Aubrey, 12, of Oakville, who were the “cherries” of his eyes.
He is also survived by his father, Billy, of Waterbury; sister Yovanny of Wolcott and her children Isaiah, Isabella and Hope; brother Jonathan of Hartford and his two daughters Jana and Zoha, sister Illiana Lopez and her children; grandmother, Ada DeJesus of Waterbury; childhood best friend, Nichalou “Junior” Moreno, of Prospect; friends Keith and Sheena Larkin, of Naugatuck, whom he had the ultimate gratitude for; Jaslynn’s mother, Angelina Cardona of Branford; and Aubrey’s mother and his former wife, Katy Torres of Oakville. He is predeceased by his mother Madeline Galarza, who he serendipitously reunited with on the morning of Mother’s Day.
