Beloved Mother, Daughter, Soulmate, Sister, Nurse, Auntie, Grammy, and Friend, Beth Ann Malloy DeFiore 62 of Southbury shared her cheer, knowledge and love with all who knew her. Her dear family joined her at her home until she left us on Saturday, March 8, 2025. Beth bore her cancer with stoic optimism for many years, persevering through great pain to affirm the glory of life along with her loving companion Billy Maldarelli. Born November 16, 1962 in Manchester NH, Beth was a daughter of Eleanor (Emery) Malloy and the late Andrew T. Malloy.
A member of the Cheshire High School Class of 1980, Beth led the Marching Ram Band as drum major for three years. She later graduated from Naugatuck Valley Community College earning her Associate’s degree in Nursing. While raising her three children, she worked as a school nurse for the Amity and Litchfield school systems. The students who visited “Mrs. D’s” office received comfort and care while providing Beth with countless laughs and hilarious stories which she loved to share with family and friends.
With sheer determination and strength of will, Beth sought and seized joy in her final years, proudly sharing her children’s milestones of graduations, marriages and the births of her cherished grandchildren. During the early days of raising her kids, she was the go-to-Mom for brownies and cookies. As she perfected her kitchen skills, Italian flavors became her specialty. Who knows where she found the time to do all she did while working three jobs, but that was Beth.
In addition to her soulmate Billy, Beth is loved and cherished by her mother Eleanor Malloy, her loving daughter Kathryn DeFiore and boyfriend Martnie, and devoted sons Michael and wife Sarah and their son Dexter, and Daniel and wife Bonnie and their son Everett. Beth felt profound gratitude and joy for her moments spent holding and loving her two grandsons. She also leaves her sister Kathleen and husband Bill Sevedge and brothers Andrew Malloy and wife Debra, Mark Malloy and wife Nancy, and Sean Malloy and wife Sanna. She was predeceased by a sister, Marilyn Malloy. Beth had many many friends and her dearest, Kathy Shortt, carries beautiful memories to last many lifetimes.
Per her instructions, there will not be a sad funeral for Beth, but rather a private Going Away Party, a celebratory gathering to share stories, a scattering of tears and a multitude of laughs, songs, blessings, and most importantly, food. Beth loved her life and left it with happiness in all that she accomplished. She leaves an abundance of loving memories and laughs for all who were blessed to know and love her.
