Barbara O'Donnell Goffredo, 76, beloved wife of George Goffredo, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2026, at The Hospital of Central Connecticut, surrounded by the love of her beautiful family. Barbara faced pancreatic cancer with remarkable courage, strength, and grace, fighting bravely and valiantly throughout her illness.
Born on June 25, 1949, Barbara was the daughter of the late Robert O'Donnell and Jeanne Soden O'Donnell. She dedicated her life to caring for others as a Registered Nurse, serving her patients with compassion, skill, and unwavering dedication. Barbara worked for more than 32 years at Yale-New Haven Hospital, primarily on the medical-surgical units. While serving on the ENT/Plastics Unit, she became a passionate advocate for her patients, often serving as the voice for those who could not speak for themselves. Her work experience spanned full circle from staff as Mother Infant Nurse to Homecare to Oncology care.
Above all else, Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. In addition to her beloved husband George, she leaves her loving daughters, Kim Ballantoni of Prospect and Jennifer Beach and her husband, Eric, of Torrington. She was the cherished grandmother of Christopher Ballantoni, Chloe Beach, and Daniel Beach. Barbara also leaves behind her faithful grand-dog and sidekick, Shelby, who brought her endless joy and companionship.
Barbara's warmth, kindness, and selfless spirit touched countless lives, both professionally and personally. Her legacy of compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, friends, colleagues, and the many patients whose lives she impacted throughout her nursing career.
Family and friends are invited to honor Barbara's life on Friday, June 26, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Prospect Memorial/The Palmerie Family Funeral Home, 122 Waterbury Road, Prospect. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 12:00 p.m. In recognition of Barbara's lifelong dedication to the nursing profession and the countless patients she cared for, a Nightingale Tribute will be presented at the conclusion of the service. Burial will immediately follow in Prospect Cemetery.
