Obituary for Atlas Michael Santiago
Atlas Michael Santiago entered this world surrounded by love and left it wrapped in it.
Though his time on earth was far too brief, Atlas made a mark that will last forever. From the very beginning, he showed the heart of a fighter — strong, stubborn, and full of spirit. He refused every pacifier offered to him, already determined to do things his own way. His expressive little faces, his quiet strength, and the way he held on to life so fiercely will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Atlas was welcomed into life by his great-grandmother, Joan Fillie, who lovingly cut his cord and helped usher him into this world. He is cherished by his great-grandfather Michael Fillie, his grandmother Melissa Panilaitis, his uncle Daniel Santiago, and his aunt Kasey Gautier, who adored her great nephew deeply.
He is lovingly remembered by his big brother, Iverson, who loved him boldly and always wanted to make sure Atlas had his baba. That brotherly love will never fade.
Atlas was surrounded by chosen family — Cortney Brewer, who stood beside his mother when he was born, and Bradley Waddell, who was present both at his arrival and during his passing, offering unwavering love and support.

His Mother
Atlas is the beloved son of Samantha Valdez, who carried him, fought for him, and loved him with a depth that cannot be measured. From the moment she knew he existed, he became her reason — her strength, her purpose, her heart outside of her body.
She held him through his first breaths and through his final moments. She memorized every expression, every movement, every tiny detail that made him uniquely Atlas. The bond between mother and son does not end with death; it transforms. That love remains unbreakable, eternal, and fierce.
Atlas was her reason for fighting. And he always will be.
⸻
Though his time here was short, Atlas gave his family a lifetime of love. His presence changed lives. His absence is immeasurable.
Atlas Michael Santiago will forever be remembered as a warrior, a light, and a soul too powerful for this world to hold for long.
He is deeply loved. He is eternally missed. And he will live on in every heartbeat of those who carry him forward.
