Arnold Riley Obituary

Beloved Father, Grandfather and Friend

Arnold I. Riley, 87, of Bethany, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. He was the devoted husband of the late June (Geary) Riley. Born on May 7, 1938, Arnold was the son of the late Henry and Helen (Tuttle) Riley.

Arnold is survived by his loving daughter, Sherry L. Marek and her husband Robert of Bethany. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Caitlin Tournas (Kyle), Dawn Keetell (Sean Kelly), Robert Marek (Rebecca), Douglas Riley (Maryssa), Sean Riley (Lauren), and Nicholas Marek; as well as nine beloved great-grandchildren.

A hardworking and faithful man, Arnold was deeply devoted to his family, his faith, and his community. He spent his career in construction and later worked for the Bethany Public Works Department. Known for his industrious spirit, Arnold found joy in landscaping—meticulously designing his yard with stone walls, a pond, and vibrant gardens. His early work at Clover Nook Farm sparked a lifelong passion for farming, which he continued throughout his life.

Arnold was a lifelong and active member of the Episcopal Church of Bethany, where he sang in the choir and worshipped with joy. He especially treasured the moments singing hymns as his beloved wife June played the keyboard. His faith was the foundation of his life and service, and he lived each day with a generous and open heart.

Arnold had a special bond with each member of his family and leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering faith. He is now reunited in eternal peace with his wife June, his son Douglas A. Riley, his grandson Randy Marek, and his brother Lee Riley.
