Arlene Hanscom, beloved wife of David and loving mother to her two sons, Daniel and Christopher and their wives Shanshan and Vanessa, recently passed away on September 30, 2024 due to complications from medical issues.
She loved shopping for new clothes and shoes, reading a good book, baking and cooking, listening to blues and rock music, and visiting the White Mountains of New Hampshire.
Arlene is survived by her brother, Rex Paternoster, and sisters, Nella Sciuto and Anna Milici, and granddaughters: Heather, Holly, and Haley Hanscom who were her closest shopping pals. She also leaves several nephews, Vinny, Jason, Sam and niece, Jessica, and personal friends: Elaine Hanscom, Lois Wheaton, Samantha Shober and Rebecca Calabrese. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Mary and Louis Paternoster.
The family gives thanks to the doctors, nurses, and aides at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, CT for their caring and compassionate help during her medical crises, the Smilow Cancer Center in Derby, CT for bringing remission to her cancer diagnosis, and any and all others who may have touched her life during these difficult times.

Family and friends are invited to gather for the visitation of Arlene on October 4, 2024 from 9-10:30am at Prospect Memorial/The Palmerie Family Funeral Home, 122 Waterbury Rd., Prospect, CT 06712. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30am and will precede procession to Arlene’s final resting place, St. Thomas Cemetery, Mill Plain Rd., Fairfield, CT 06824.
