We regret to announce the passing of Anthony Vincent Uva (Tony) 87, who passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday July 10, 2024, in Watertown Connecticut.
Anthony Vincent Uva was born on June 10, 1937, and grew up in Yonkers NY. Son to Tony and Lena Uva. He was the brother to Palma, Carmela and Louisa. All predeceased Mr. Uva except for Louisa.
Mr. Uva married Lorraine Isgro on August 31, 1963, and remained married before her passing on February 15, 1997. Mr. Uva remarried on May 8, 1999 to Patricia DiNapoli and who he stayed married with until his last day.
Mr. Uva was a long-time resident of Yonkers, NY, the Homefield Section where he raised his family. He and his first wife Lorraine along with their 5 children were parishioners of St. Anthony’ s Church. Anthony was also a member of the St. Anthony’s Choir. The family were very active members of the Colts Boys Club. He loved living in Yonkers and spending a lot of time helping the PAL (Police Athletic League) and the Yonkers Police. Anthony was also a member of The Knights of Columbus where he was Vice President 3rd Degree then he reached his highest rank of Faithful Navigator 4th Degree.
Anthony also served in the United States Air Force and received an honorable discharge. He later worked at Yonkers Contracting Company for thirty-three years where he also retired and moved to Florida with his current wife Pat.
He was a hard-working, religious, devoted family man, self-taught musician and loved his family above all else. In his free time, he could be heard in his Yonkers NY home singing, playing his accordion and organ. He was a very talented musician with a passion for music. A diehard fan of the NY Yankees and NY Rangers (Tony The Doubt).
Mr. Uva's other survivors, all from his marriage to Lorraine Isgro, include his sons Anthony Uva Jr. (Maureen Uva-Wife), Steven Uva (Nicole Uva-Wife), Michale Uva, Joseph Uva and Richard Uva (Maria Uva-Wife). He is survived by eleven grandchildren who are Angela, Lori, Steven Jr., Nicholas, Jacqualine, Michael, Christopher, Rocco, Dylan, Marissa and Alaina. Additionally, Mr. Uva is survived by his three Great grandchildren Daniel, Tyler and Nicholas.
Anthony will be dearly missed by all who knew him, but his legacy will live on through his family and friends.
Family hosted services will be held Friday, July 19th, 10 a.m. at St. Anthony's Church, 10 Squire Avenue, Yonkers, New York 10703.
Interment will follow the service at Fern Cliff Cemetery 280 Secor Road, Hartsdale, New York 10530.
