Anthony “Tony” Calabro Sr., 66, of Southington died peacefully on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at Midstate Medical Center. Tony was the widower of Linda (Gagliardi) Calabro. Born June 7, 1957 in Meriden, he was the only son of the late Salvatore and Lorraine (Courchesne) Calabro.
Tony grew up in the restaurant business alongside his father cooking for Lux’s Diner and later managing the business. He was an excellent cook. Being a proud American, Tony enlisted in the Navy and completed Boot camp but unfortunately due to the death of his mother was unable to continue serving.
After his tenure as a restraurateur, Tony got his CDL license and drove the transit bus for the city of Meriden and New Britain as well as being a night supervisor for New Britain Candy. He also was a volunteer fireman for Meriden. He loved to play pool, fish, camping and drive. He took many day trips and traveled to Florida and Tennessee
Left to honor his love and memory beside his wife Linda are his sons Anthony Calabro Jr and Joseph “Joey” Calabro as well as his sisters Roxanne Innes and Dawn Green of Tenn. And Diane Angel and Gina Dighello of Fl and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the American Lung Association are greatly appreciated by his family. There are no services at this time.
