Anne Marie Pierre Obituary

Anne Marie Pierre, 83, of Waterbury passed away peacefully on Friday, September 3, 2021 at Waterbury Hospital.  She is the widow of the late Jocelyn Pierre.  Anne Marie was born August 27, 1938 in Haiti, a daughter of the late Macillon Jean-Louis and Marie Hector.

Anne Marie was a fantastic and skillful cook.  She would cook for her church functions, many times cooking cornmeal and rice in same skillet without inadvertently mixing the two.  Although Anne Marie was famous for her Haitian food and cookies, she preferred peanut butter on crackers and coffee as her snack of choice.

Jocelyn, Anne Marie’s husband, taught her how to sew.  He was an accomplished tailor of Men’s suits and under his tutelage she became a very talented seamstress.  Anne Marie was also a nanny in her younger years.

Most of all, Anne Marie was a devoted parishioner of the Waterbury Evangelical Church where she would hear services in her native French language.  She later attended the House of Prayer Church as well.  The only book Anne Marie read was her French Bible which she would read throughout the day.  Anne Marie dedicated her life as a servant of Christ and lived her life prayerfully following Christ’s teachings.  Anne Marie loved music, particularly Cece Winans, cooking, sewing, and spending time with family.  But more than anything, she loved God and time spent with Him in prayer.

Anne Marie is survived by her daughters Anne Marie (Audrinard) Preval of Haiti, Eugenie (Jean Franer) Claude of Waterbury, and son Louis Reginald (Mimose) Pierre of Haiti.  She also leaves her grandchildren Natalie of Waterbury, Donald, of Waterbury, Samuel of California and Roudrina, Naphtalie, and Reginaldy all of Haiti and her precious great granddaughter Amiya. Anne Marie is survived by her sister Bernadette St-Jean as well as many nieces and nephews.
