Anna Clement Obituary

Anna Evelina Clement, 58, of Prospect, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2026, after a brave and heroic seven-year battle with cancer. Surrounded by the love of her devoted family, Anna entered into eternal rest at the VITAS Inpatient Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Born on May 24, 1968, Anna was the daughter of the late Frederick R. Gagnon and Anna E. (Stolfi) Gagnon.

Anna was the beloved wife of Dean Clement and the cherished mother of Anna Clement and her companion, Richard Guimar, of Groton; Tyler Clement and his companion, Hannah Chiarella, of Prospect; Samantha Clement of Prospect; and Julia Massalon and her husband, Brandon, of Naugatuck. In addition to her loving husband and children, Anna is survived by her dear sister, Carrie Surujauth, along with many extended family members and cherished friends.

A proud graduate of the St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing, Anna dedicated her life to caring for others as a registered nurse. Nursing was far more than a profession—it was her calling. Her compassion, knowledge, and gentle spirit brought comfort, healing, and hope to countless patients and families throughout her career. Her selfless nature and unwavering generosity extended far beyond the hospital walls and were evident in every aspect of her life.

For the past seven years, Anna faced cancer with extraordinary courage, grace, and determination. She fought every battle with remarkable strength, motivated by the immeasurable love she had for her family. The milestones and accomplishments of her children gave her the determination to keep moving forward, and even on her most difficult days, she found reasons to smile and remained grateful for every precious moment.

Anna found joy in life’s simple blessings. She loved gardening, delighting in the visits from hummingbirds that filled her gardens with life. Purple was her favorite color, a reflection of the warmth and beauty she brought into the lives of others. She treasured family vacations at the beach, quiet moments with those she loved most, and creating memories that will forever be cherished.

In the final hours of her life, Anna received the Nightingale Tribute at her bedside in recognition of her devoted years of nursing service. The tribute brought her tremendous peace and served as a beautiful and fitting acknowledgment of a woman whose life’s work was dedicated to caring for others with compassion and dignity.

Anna will be remembered for her strength, kindness, selflessness, and unwavering love for her family. Her courageous spirit, generous heart, and gentle smile will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.
