Anita Beatrice Shopel, 88, formerly of Prospect passed away peacefully while surrounded by the love of her family on September 12, 2023 at the Lutheran Home of Southbury. She was the widow of the late Paul Shopel. Born September 21, 1934, in Burlington Vermont, Anita was a twin daughter of the late Anthony and Helen (Giroux) Czyzewski.
Anita was a beautiful mother, wife, grandmother, sister and friend. She loved to bake and watch the birds, particularly cardinals and hummingbirds. Apple pie was one of her specialties, among many other delicious desserts. After many years of dedication to her position as assembler, Anita retired from Airpax. As a member of a large family of seven children, she loved being around and with her family. Her children Donna, Michael and Lisa have many fond memories of growing up with their extended family.
Left to cherish Anita’s love and memory are her daughter Donna Coulibaly and her husband Dramane of De., son Michael Shopel of Waterbury and daughter Lisa and her husband Mark DeLorenzo of Watertown and grandchildren: Christopher and Taylor Shopel, Abdoulaye, Paul-Andre, and Frederick Coulibaly, Lauren and Mark DeLorenzo. Anita also leaves her twin sister Juanita and her husband Raymond Chevrier of Bristol and her brother Van Czyzewski of VT, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Anita now joins in heaven her husband Paul, sisters Dorothy Czyzewski and Kathy Billado and brothers Anthony and Ronald Czyzewski.
