Mr. Algis Brazdzionis, 89, of Prospect, CT died January 5, 2025.
Algis was born in Kaunas, Lithuania on February 6, 1935, son of Bernardas Brazdzionis and Aldona Brazdzioniene (Stanionis). The family escaped from the advancing Russian army in 1944 and lived in Germany for some time. In 1949 they emigrated to the United States.
Algis graduated from Northeastern University in Boston, MA with a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry. He served in the U.S. Army as a helicopter pilot. In 1963 he settled in Waterbury, CT and went to work for US Rubber in Naugatuck, later Uniroyal in Naugatuck, then Chemtura in Middlebury. He had received several patents in the footwear field.
After retiring in 1997, Algis enjoyed summers on his sailboat, cruising New England and Bermuda.
Algis is survived by his daughters Zibute Osgood and Ginta Fuller, and partner Martha Rossi. He is predeceased by his sons Vilius Brazdzionis and Algimantas Brazdzionis.
